The Anybus-X gateway copies I/O-data in both directions thus enabling data exchange between the two networks. Default I/O configuration is 20 bytes Input and 20 bytes Output. Changing default settings is simple and carried out using the RS232 configuration port and a standard terminal interface on a PC, such as Hyper Terminal for Windows. This gateway is a true Layer 7 gateway that converts application data to/from Ethernet Modbus/TCP <=> Modbus RTU, providing independent handling of each communication interface. The Ethernet interface consists of an embedded ModbusTCP 10/100 Mbps interface with IT functionality such as Web-server, SSI-scripts, Flash file system, FTP-server, e-mail client, Telnet. It is possible to build web pages displaying and controlling a factory floor process with data from the other connected network. It is built on a dedicated 32 bit RISC micro processor (+60 mips) ensuring fast and secure Ethernet performance. The EtherNet/ModbusTCP interface module has proven interoperability with leading PLCs, HMIs, other devices. The Modbus RTU Slave interface is implemented according to Modbus Protocol implementation guide (PI-MBUS-300). All data is mapped to 3x and 4x Modbus areas meaning the Input Status and Output Register Word areas. The Modbus RTU standard baud rate is 19200 Bit/s but can be modified on the gateway between 1200 Bit/s to 57 600 Bit/s.
